AssayMetrics Company Board
As a
result of venture
capital investment at the beginning of 2010 from a syndicate led by
Finance Wales, AssayMetrics has a real strength in depth
in its senior team. The company board comprises the following investor
directors.
Dr
Alistair Smith (Chairman)
Alistair was an Executive Director of Oxford Instruments plc from
1988 to 2000 and then chairman of Oxford Diffraction Limited. He
successfully guided the company from a venture capital funding round to
exit via a trade sale in Spring 2008. Alistair has a PhD in physics and
is on the external advisory panels of number of UK universities.
Dr
Pierre Graves (Chief Executive Officer)
Pierre founded the company in 2004 and is experienced in managing
both start-up businesses and complex international ventures involving
some of the world's biggest companies. He has managed large research
and development projects, developed intellectual property and brought
new products to market. He has won a number of prizes and grants for
innovation in the fields of microelectronics, medical instrumentation
and drug discovery. Pierre has also been engaged as a technical expert
for the European Commission's research and development programmes.
Dr
Tony Flinn
Tony is an established business executive with experience in
product
development, sales, marketing, new business development and business
financing. He started-up Onyx Scientific Ltd in the year 2000 and as
CEO helped grow the business to a turnover of £4m. In 2007 he led a
management buy-out of the business and in 2009 was recognised in the
Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year 2009 (Northern) award.
Professor
Ian Weeks
Ian is both an acknowledged academic and experienced business
executive. He was one of the founders of Molecular Light Technology
Limited, developing and commercialising a chemiluminescence technology
named as one of the top 100 life-changing discoveries of the last 50
years by Universities UK. Ian is Professor of Translational
Biochemistry in the School of Medicine at Cardiff University, where the
technology was originally invented. He represents Finance Wales as
Investor Director on the board.
Mr
Roger Humm
Roger is an experienced Commercial and Finance Director with
extensive knowledge of technology companies and start-up businesses. He
has accumulated experience of UK and trans-national capital
transactions covering acquisitions, divestments, in- &
out-licensing and spin-outs, and has raised finance from a variety of
sources including grant funding, early stage, VCT and VC funds. Roger
is part-time executive finance director at NanoSight Ltd and G-Volution
Ltd, is a retained
consultant at Particle Therapeutics Ltd and is a
member nominated trustee for the Oxford Instruments pension scheme.
